Cities in the City of the Athenians

A happy surprise expects us as we walk past Voukourestiou Street in Athens, two steps from the Constitution Square and the Greek Parliament.
A team of students from the Superior School of Beaux Art in Athens have moved their labs downtown, in the covered gallery of City Link.
With their sketches spread around them, their colorful paints and their eagerness they compose artworks that will participate in the exhibition ART & THE CITY. The subject given to them is ‘Cities in the City’. It is the 3rd succeeding year this art event takes place at this spot.
the pedestrians stop for a while, to question, to remark, to photograph. The young artists are willing to reply, to open a dialogue; they smile, they explain. Then, with their headphones on, they bend back to their work.

The exhibition is announced for Thursday November 15th, 2012.

Πόλεις στην Πόλη των Αθηναίων

Ευχάριστη έκπληξη μας περιμένει καθώς περνάμε από τη Στοά Σπυρομήλιου, άλλως City Link, δίπλα στον πεζόδρομο της Βουκουρεστίου, δυο βήματα από το Σύνταγμα.
Μια ομάδα νεαρών εικαστικών φοιτητών και νέων αποφοίτων της Ανωτάτης Σχολής Καλών Τεχνών έχουν μεταφέρει στη Στοά το εργαστήριο τους.
Με τα προσχέδια τους απλωμένα, τις μπογιές και το ζήλο τους συνθέτουν τα έργα που θα παραδώσουν για την έκθεση ART & THE CITY. Το θέμα που τους δόθηκε είναι ‘Cities in the City’. Είναι η τρίτη συνεχής χρονιά που οργανώνεται αυτή η έκθεση εδώ με τη συμμετοχή της ΑΣΚΤ.
Περαστικοί κοντοστεκόμαστε, ρωτάμε, κάνουμε μια παρατήρηση, φωτογραφίζουμε. Οι νεαροί καλλιτέχνες πρόθυμοι στο διάλογο, απαντάνε, χαμογελάνε, εξηγούν. Με τα ακουστικά στα αυτιά τους, γονατίζουν κι επιστρέφουν στη δουλειά τους.

Τα εγκαίνια έχουν προγραμματιστεί για την Πέμπτη 15 Νοεμβρίου, 2012.
